Man to die for killing driver in Gazipur

A Gazipur court here sentenced a man to death for killing a CNG autorickshaw driver named Mohammed Parvez Bhuiyan in 2013. The convict man was identified as Mohammed Ripon, 32, son of Bachchu Miah of Gorbari village under Shibpur upazila in Narsingdi district.
The judge of Gazipur district and session judge court AKM Anamul Haque passed the order yesterday noon. The court also fined Ripon Tk 10,000 at the same time and sentenced him three years imprisonment in an another section.
According to the prosecution story, the victim Parvez Bhuiyan, 28, son of Ratan Bhuiyan of Dattergaon village of Shibpur upazila in Narsingdi district was a CNG autorickshaw driver. He went outside with passengers in his vehicle on June 14 in 2013 and remained missing. After a day, his slit-throat body was found in a banana garden at Choronilakhsmi village of Kapasia upazila in Gazipur district. On June 17, victims uncle Kiron Bhuiyan filed a case with Kapasia police station against Ramjan, Mobarak, Billal, Kajol and Akram Hossain, the five passenger of his autorickshaw.
The investigation officer of the case and also sub-inspector of Kapasia police station Jashim Uddin submitted charge sheet against five accused and others two men included Ripon and Saddam.
After examining 12 witnesses and records, the judge handed down the verdict against Ripon and acquitted six others accused from the case. Public Prosecutor (PP) Haris Uddin took part on behalf of the state of the case while Mohammed Wahiduzzaman Akand was in favour of the accused.
