The prosecution at the International Crimes Tribunal (ICT-BD) yesterday started placing arguments in the crimes against humanity case against two alleged Razakars from Shariatpur, reports BSS.
The two accused are Sulaiman Mollah, 84, of Kashipur Muslimpara and Edris Ali Sarder alias Gazi Edris, 67, of Mahmudpur of the district. Of the two accused, Edris is still on the run.
“Senior prosecutor Zead-al Malum submitted the arguments in part before the three-member panel of the tribunal yesterday. The tribunal adjourned the hearing till today,” said prosecutor Rezia Sultana Chemon.
A total of 13 prosecution witnesses (PWs) including the investigation officer have testified before the tribunal in the case and were cross-examined by the state-appointed defence counsel hereafter. Earlier on May 2, the tribunal framed four charges including genocide and rape against the duo.
Meanwhile, the International Crimes Tribunal (ICT-BD) yesterday sent five alleged Razakars from Gafargaon upazila under Mymensingh district to jail, setting January 22, 2017, for further hearing in the case.
“The court sent Khalilur Rahman Meer, 61, Akkel Ali alias Raisuddin Azadi, 73, Abul Kalam alias Shamsuzzaman, Mohammad Abdullah and Abdul Malek alias Akanda alias Abul Hossain as police produced them before the court,” prosecutor Rezia Sultana Chemon told BSS.
