A police constable of Bandar police station in Chittagong yesterday allegedly tried to kill himself and was admitted to Chittagong Medical College Hospital (CMCH) in a critical condition later.
The police member was identified as Ananda Barua, 22. The incident took place at around 4pm at Chittagong port gate no.3; he was on duty that time, said AKM Mohiuddin Selim, officer-in-charge (OC) of Bandar police station.
“Ananda Barua tried to commit suicide. By his own rifle fired at his own neck,” added the OC. “Barua was admitted at ward no.19. His condition is critical. He has been sent at Operation Theater,” said assistant sub-inspector (ASI) Pankaj Barua of CMCH police outpost. How he pierced bullet it is not clear, added Pankaj Barua. Panic has been triggered in the area of port’s gate no.03 after hearing the sound of fire. On information police rushed to the sport and sent the police member to hospital.
