A Dhaka Court yesterday placed the arrested stalker Jibon Karim alias Babu on a five day remand in a case filed over assaulting teenage twin sisters in Mirpur area on October 19 following their protests against abusive language used by him.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Pronab Kumar passed the order. However, Sub Inspector Anuj Kumar Sarker, sought seven-day remand for the accused.
Rapid Action Battalion on Monday arrested the stalker from the capital.
RAB-4 commanding officer (CO) Khandakar Lutfar Kabir said, during the primary interrogation, Babu admitted that he was stalking the twin sisters for long times.
On Wednesday, Babu assaulted Fariha Habib and Ashowad Habib, 16-year-old, who are HSC first-year students of Mirpur BCIC College.
Witnesses said that the sisters were waiting for a bus opposite the BCIC College at noon when Jibon Karim and three other men hurled abusive words on them.
At one point, the men started assaulting the sisters.
Following the assault, students and teachers organised protest rally demanding immediate arrest of the culprit.
