Free medical & dental camp in Choice to Change school

The Christian Medical and Dental Association of Bangladesh (CMDAB) recently held the first ever free medical and dental camp in the Choice to Change School in Dhaka. The Choice to Change School known more popularly as C2C initiative is a non profit organization bringing education to the poorest children of Dhaka thus providing them a chance to break the cycle of poverty. Located in Notun Bazar Banani, C2C School started its journey in 2010 and it is a school where children are taught the national curriculum in English the first school in the slums to do this.
A total of 150 children were seen and some free medication was given by the medical team. C2C project also provided free drugs. A session on personal hygiene was also conducted by members of the CMDAB. The dental team performed 20 scaling and root canals and 20 dental filling procedures totally free of charge. The staff of Johnsons Place Dental Lab offered their services free of charge and acclaim, on what was their only weekly holiday to help the children at C2C School. After the school students were treated a few of the teaching staff and parents also received free health care. Work started at early morning on 15th October, 2016 and continued till late in the evening. The free medical and dental camp was generously supported by Johnsons Place Dental Lab and UniMed UniHealth Limited.
To be someones aid in his or her destitution is a call that should resonate in all our hearts simply because humanity has been created in the image and likeness of a loving and benevolent God, who wants nothing but the best for humanity. One may argue that if God is so loving, kind or benevolent why is there so much evil, death, disease or poverty in the world? When one of his professors postulated that God created all the evil on earth, a certain wise man promptly replied God did not create evil, in fact evil is the result of what happens, when man does not have Gods love in his heart. Evil, the pupil went on to deliberate, was just like cold or darkness; phenomenon which come into existence only when heat or light start to fade away in our environment.
Whether or not a small initiative like the ones taken by authorities of C2C project or the even more insignificant step taken by the members of CMDAB can remedy all the pain and misery inflicted by poverty or disease in our country; our collective efforts can make an enormous impact to fight these age old demons.
The journey ahead for C2C School and CMDAB is long and winding indeed, but with resolve, persistence and the blessings of the Almighty; many children will be benefited from their endeavors in the future.
