Broad looks to use tricky wickets on 5th morning

England fast bowler Stuart Broad stressed on keeping the intensity high when they would back on the fifth day of the Test with requiring two wickets to seal the deal. What gave Broad the confi-dence of their victory was the wicket’s nature to give some-thing to the bowlers in every morning session. If someone watches the trend of the Test, they would get the point that the wicket remains tricky in the morning session.

“Ideally it would have been great to have finished the Test match today,” Broad said yesterday.

“There was a nice crowd and the atmosphere was great. Lot of tension throughout the day. Actually from our point of view as a team, to go back to the hotel, get some rest, be refreshed for that first hour tomorrow. The batsmen have to play themselves in again. There has been quite a few wickets in that first hour every morning. We are not too disap-pointed to come off as a team. We have to make sure our inten-sity is very high.”

England however could have sealed the game earlier had fifth wicket partnership between Sabbir Rahman and Mushfiqur Rahim didn’t held them. That partnership actually kept the game in the balance.

“It is quite hard to start on that pitch. There is considerable turn. If we can get reverse swing in the morning, it will bring the seamers into the game,” he said.

“The break is good for us because the batsmen will have to start again. If we can test their patience tomorrow morning, there is a delivery with every batsman’s name out there. It is very hard to predict what’s gonna happen tomorrow. It is one very good knock from a batsman or two good balls from a bowler,” Broad remarked adding that here lies the beauty of Test cricket, “That’s why we love Test cricket, isn’t it?”

“What a fantastic Test match to be a part of. Coming back for day five, we need two wickets with 33 runs to get. Things you tell yourself as a bowling and fielding unit, two deliveries, two good balls, who can have the character to bowl two unplayable deliveries, or beat the batsman’s defense or test his ego.”

Though Broad didn’t expect Bangladesh would give them such sort of fight to make the Test such intriguing.

“I think Bangladesh has played fantastically well. I think the Test match has been up there among the top five that I have played in, exciting-wise. I have played 99 Tests so I know I will get 2-3 hours kip tonight through worry. So it is good fun.”
