KUET admission test begins Oct 28
KHULNA: The admission test for the first year BSC-Engineering and Bachelor of Urban and Regional Planning (BURP) courses in Khulna University of Engineering and Technology (KUET) under 2016-17 academic year will be held on October 28. At least 13 aspirants will vie for a seat in the first year honours courses in KUET.
KUET sources said a total of 12,717 admission seekers have finally selected for 1,005 seats in 14 departments under BSC Engineering and BRUP courses.
Three new departments will launch for the 2016 - 2017 academic year where more 130 students to get opportunities for admission this year.
The admission test will be held from 9.30 am to 12.00pm at seven centers. The centers are KUET campus, KUET High School, Teachers Training College (TTC), Higher Secondary Teachers Training Institute (HSTTI), Govt. Laboratory High School, Boys Technical Training Center (BTTC) and Girls Technical Training Center (GTTC).

JU teacher appointed ‘student exchange adviser’ in Kanazawa University
SAVAR: Associate Professor Kabirul Bashar of Zoology department of Jahangirnagar University (JU) has been appointed as ‘Student Exchange Advisor’ of Kanazawa University in Japan.
He confirmed The Independent about his success on Saturday evening by a phone call.
On Friday, the Vice President of Kanazawa University Prof Heroshi Yeamamoto handed over the appointment letter to Dr Bashar in a simple ceremony.
He will able to play a vital role for Bangladeshi students whose are willing to admit in this university from now.
Moreover, Dr Bashar will work as an advisor for agents of Kanazawa University when they will visit to Bangladesh for education and research purpose. “It will be easy to exchange of students between our country and Kanazawa University”, said Dr Kabirul Bashar. Therefore, Bangladeshi students will get more priority for Doctoral and Masters Level from now, he added. Mentionable, Dr Bashar is a renowned teacher and researcher who completed his Philosophy of doctorate degree in 2012 from Kanazawa University. Now, he is also acting as Collaborative Professor at this university. Earlier, this teacher made a great stir by inventing a new species of Grass Hopper.
‘NSUers Meet Corporate Icons’ held at NSU
Young Entrepreneurs Society (YES!), the business club of North South University (NSU), has recently organised an event titled ‘NSU’ers Meet Corporate Icons (NMCI)’ at NSU, says a press release.
This event consisted of a series of seminars aimed to help bridge the gap between the business leaders of the country and enthusiastic students of NSU. It gave students the chance to listen to and interact with the successful corporate icons of the country. This year’s theme was #TheNEXTSTEP. There was a total of 6 sessions over the course of 2 days, featuring a multitude of talents from different sectors of the corporate world.
The two-day event ended on October 17. One of the media partners of the event was The Independent.
EWU remains unbeatable in national moot court contest
The three-day National Henry Dunant Memorial Moot Court Competition ended on Saturday, with East West University (EWU) team remaining unbeatable in all the rounds they participated.
The EWU team consisting Md Pizuar Hossain, Jannatul Shareat Disha and Tyaba Tasmeen and coached by Professor Tureen Afroz also won the Best Research Team Award in the competition adjudicated by sitting judges of the High Court and the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court.
Jointly organised by the Canadian University of Bangladesh and the Bangladesh chapter of the Asian Society for International Law have jointly organised the competition, which started on October 20. Law departments or faculties of 23 public and private universities participated in the said competition.
