Theatre troupe Padatik Natya Sangsad (TSC) will stage William Shakespeare’s masterpiece tragedy ‘Macbeth’ today at 7pm at the National Theatre Hall of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA), as a part of the ongoing Ganga-Jamuna Theatre and Cultural Festival 2016. This year, the festival has been dedicated to late writer-author Syed Shamsul Haq who passed away last month. In this connection, the play ‘Macbeth’ translated by noted litterateur Syed Shamsul Haq and directed by Sudip Chakrobrothy will be staged dedicating Syed Haq today.
In the play, the destruction wrought when ambition goes unchecked by moral constraints—finds its most powerful expression in the play’s two main characters. Macbeth is a courageous Scottish general who is not naturally inclined to commit evil deeds, yet he deeply desires power and advancement.
On the other hand, Nagorik Natya Sampradaya’s ‘Dewan Gazir Kissa’, directed by noted thespian, evergreen actor and Cultural Affairs Minister Asaduzzaman Noor, will be staged at the Experimental Theatre Hall of BSA. Asaduzzaman Noor adapted the play from a story by late German poet-playwright-theatre director Bertold Brecht. Noted actors Aly Zaker, Abul Hayat and versatile actress Runa Khan will play important roles in the play.
Besides, Natya Joddha will bring their production ‘Britte Basabas’ on stage today at the same time at Studio Theatre Hall.
