Man killed, 18 hurt in clash

A man was killed and 18 others injured in a clash between two rival groups at Debinagar village in Shailkupa upazila of the district yesterday.

The deceased was identified as Atiar Rahman Khan, 45, of the village.
Police said the clash broke out at about 12.30 pm between two rival groups one led by Atiar Rahman Khan and another led by Shahjahan Mollah over establishing supremacy in the area, said Tarikul Islam, officer-in-charge of Shailkupa Police Station.
As a sequel to enmity, both the groups equipped with local weapons attacked each other, leaving Atiar dead on the spot and 18 others injured, said Ramchandrapur police outpost sub- inspector Ajoy Kumar. 
The injured were sent to the upazila health complex and Sadar hospital.
