Dhaka for UNSC resolution

Bangladesh has urged the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) to consider working on a resolution against illegal Israeli settlements in the Occupied Palestinian Territories. Bangladesh’s Permanent Representative to UN Ambassador Masud Bin Momen made the call while addressing the Council during an open debate on Wednesday at the UN headquarters in New York, according to a press release forwarded by the press wing of the Permanent Mission yesterday.
He also said that continued Israeli settlements posed the biggest challenge to resuming the Middle East Peace Process. The Permanent Represen-tative reiterated the call for a peaceful, just and durable solution to the Palestine-Israeli conflict. He reaffirmed Bangladesh’s support for the rights of the Palestinian people and their legitimate aspiration for an independent state. Ambassador Momen further called upon the international community to impress upon Israel to put an end to its systematic violation of international humanitarian law in the occupied territories.
