A courting the capital yesterday framed charges against three people, including BNP leader Mirza Abbas, in a graft case filed by the Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) for irregularities in allocating plots, reports UNB.
Judge of Dhaka Special Court No-4 M Aminul Hoque passed the order.
Two others accused in the case are—former State Minister for Housing and Public Works Ministry Alamgir Kabir and ex-joint secretary of the ministry Bijan Kanti Sarkar.
The court also fixed January 1, 2017 for starting the trail in the case acquitting two other accused—Mansur Alam and Matia Rahman, employees of the Housing and Public Works Ministry.
In 2006, then Housing and Public Works Minister Mirza Abbas in association with Alamgir Kabir, Binaj Kanti, allocated a plot worth Tk 18.91 crore at Sector-8 in the city’s Mirpur to journalists in exchange of only Tk 3.38 crore.
Following this, On March 6, 2014, ACC deputy director Hamidul Hasan filed the graft case with Shahbagh Police Station against Mirza Abbas and four others.
On February 12, 2015, Hamidul Hasan, also the Investigation Officer (IO) of the case, submitted a charge sheet accusing five people, including Abbas and Kabir.
