Security beefed up in Khulna for Eid

KHULNA: The Khulna Metropolitan Police (KMP) authorities have taken tight security measures for the ensuing Eid-ul-Fitr likely to be celebrated across the country on July 19 in 2015, reports BSS.
To make the security effective, the police had set up close circuit (CC) cameras at all important places specially markets, banks, stations and city’s entry points.
Police also set up two control rooms at KMP headquarter and Special Branch of KMP.
Talking to BSS yesterday, Deputy Additional Commissioner of KMP Moniruzzaman Mithu said, KMP authorities has taken a bundle security measures during Ramzan and ahead of Eid-ul-Fitr.
The measures were taken in separate meeting during first week of Ramzan and before the Ramzan at the KMP headquarters with the KMP Commissioner Nibas Chandra Majhi in the chair.
A total of 1500 police including detective and plain cloths police were deployed at all the markets, shopping malls, in front of different banks, railway station, bus and launch terminal areas and busiest public places for ensuring security of people. At least sixteen check posts will be set up at different points including city’s entry points before seven days of Eid-ul-Fitr, he said adding that DB police has already deployed with mobile devices in front of banks, financial organisations and Eid markets.
Two platoons’ police will be deployed before and after the Eid-Jamaat at the city’s main Eidghah at Circuit House Ground while one platoon police will be deployed at all important Eidghah including Khalishpur, Daulatpur and Khanjahan Ali industrial belt. One section of police will be deployed at all important Eidgah in the city before and after the Eid Jamaat, he said.
The police also will be checked and swiped at all important Eidgah before the night of Eid-ul-Fitr, he added.
KMP authorities also have asked the city dwellers, businessmen and bank officials to take police escort to carry cash from one place to another he said adding that steps will also been taken for improving the road traffic system to ease the sufferings of shoppers and home coming people ahead of Eid.
