Students from 89 countries competing in Chinese Bridge in Yunnan

The 9th CHINESE BRIDGE a Chinese language proficiency competition for foreign secondary school students opens in Yunnan Normal University, Kunming on October 18 and it will last to October 29.
This year, nearly 450 students and teachers from 89 countries come to Yunnan to participate in the contest. The number of registered countries and participants is a record high compared to previous years.
Besides language proficiency, contestants are being tested in their knowledge about Chinese culture, a talent show and on their ability to learn Chinese. Champions will be awarded Chinese scholarships provided by Hanban, the Confucius Institute Headquarters.
During the competition, students visit schools and families in Yunnan to have face-to-face talks with their counterparts. They also visit Yunnan Nationalities Village, the Stone Forest and the Yunnan-Vietnam Railway, to better experience local culture.
Earlier this year, preliminary contests for the 9th Chinese Bridge were held separately overseas to select the top contestants for the finals in Yunnan.
With the theme Learn Chinese, Double Your World, four sessions of Chinese Bridge for foreign secondary students have successfully been held in Kunming, capital of Yunnan Province.
Chinese Bridge is a large-scale international contest. It consists of three events: Chinese Bridge Chinese Proficiency Competition for Foreign College Students, Chinese Bridge Chinese Proficiency Competition for Foreign Secondary School Students and Chinese Bridge Chinese Proficiency Competition for Foreigners across the Globe.
