Man killed in rival attack
SYLHET: A man was killed in an attack by his rivals over previous enmity at Chotodesh village in Kanaighat upazila on Friday. The deceased was identified as Tota Mia, 46, a tractor driver and son of late Tajul Ali of the village. Witnesses said Tota Mia and his neighbour Shahidur Rahman had been at loggerheads over the ownership of land of a road near their houses. As a sequel to the enmity, an altercation ensued between Tota Mia and Shahidur Rahman after Juma prayer over the issue and at one stage Shahidur beat up Tota Mia mercilessly, leaving him dead on the spot. Being informed, police recovered the body and sent it to Sylhet Osmani Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy.

Injured man dies at RMCH
RAJSHAHI: A father, who sustained injuries reportedly after his son had hit him with a sharp weapon died Friday night four days after he was admitted to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital (RMCH), police and hospital sources said, reports BSS. The deceased was identified as Abu Bakkar, 48, of Kashempur village under Durgapur Upazila of the district. On Monday last, Abu Bakkar got locked in an altercation with his two sons, Selim Hossain and Alamin, over a family feud and at one stage Selim Hossain chopped his father with a sharp weapon.

1 kg heroin seized in Rajshahi
RAJSHAHI: Detective Branch of Rajshahi Metropolitan Police seized one kilogram of heroin and arrested one person in this connection in Kasiadanga area under Rajpara police station in the city yesterday morning, police sources said. On a tip-off, a police team carried out a sudden raid at the area around 7 am and arrested Nazmul Haque, 32, of Bazpur village under Godagari Upazila of the district and seized a bag containing the contraband item. Quoting the preliminary confessional statement of the arrested person the police sources said he was involved in the drug-trafficking activities for long.

College girl ‘commits suicide’
RAJSHAHI: A college-girl allegedly committed suicide by hanging herself in her student-mess's bedroom at Hatemkhan under Boalia police station in the city Friday night, sources said. The girl was identified as Tanha Mukila Khatun, 17, daughter of Meher Ali of Dighakandi village under Bagmara Upazila of the district. She appeared in HSC examination from the city's New Govt Degree College this year.  On information from her room met, police recovered the body.
