Narail declared ‘beggar-free’

Narail has been declared as beggar-free district. Divisional Commissioner of Khulna Abdus Samad made the declaration on Tuesday. Erecting a signboard at Kalna Ferryghat point, the entrance of the district, the declaration was made. Deputy Commissioner of Narail Helal Mahmud Sharif, ADC (general) Siddiqur Rahman, Lohagara Upazila Nirbahi Officer Selim Reza, and Lohagara Upazila Chairman Syed Faizur Ameer Litu were present, among others, at the declaration programme. 

ADC Siddiqur Rahman made an effort in this regard about one year ago. He inspired innovative ideas among other officials of the collectorate, civil society members and media personnel. He made a list of beggars after a survey and later a beggar rehabilitation fund was formed on his own effort.  The beggars were rehabilitated by involving them with income-generating tasks.
