The country’s leading mobile phone operator Grameen-phone (GP) reported revenue of Tk 29.4 billion in 3rd quarter (Q3) of 2016 with 11.2 per cent growth compared to same period of the last year, reports BSS.
Subscription and traffic revenue (excluding interconnection) grew by 13.8 per cent with growing contribution from data. Data revenue growth accelerated to 72.1 per cent Year-on-Year (YoY) while voice revenue also grew by 6.6 per cent YoY with healthy development of minutes of usage.
“This quarter (Q3) has been a solid one with accelerating momentum of our topline growth,” said Rajeev Sethi, CEO of Grameenphone, while announcing the business update in a city hotel yesterday.
Data continues to perform well with voice revenue growth continuing, said Sethi, adding “New subscriber acquisition pace has picked up its momentum and will play an important role while going forward.”
Grameenphone ended the quarter with 55.0 million subscribers, a 3.3 per cent de-growth from June 2016.
