The Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) yesterday caught a land official in Narsingdi red-handed while taking bribe.
An eight-member Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) team, led by its director Nasim Anwar, arrested deputy assistant officer of Sadarchar Union Land Office in Shibpur upazila Md Nuruzzaman from his office on Wednesday morning, ACC public relations officer Pranab Kumar Bhattacharya told UNB.
Kamal Hossain, a villager, recently went to the local land office to collect land documents, but Nuruzzaman took Tk 2,000 from him as expenses and later demanded Tk 12,000 for the job. The victim then submitted a written compliant against the land official with the ACC’ s Dhaka zila office.
In consultation with the ACC officials, the plaintiff went to the land office on Wednesday morning again to give Nuruzzaman Tk 12,000 in bribe. While receiving the money, the ACC team caught him red-handed.
Later on Wednesday, ACC assistant director Md Fazlul Bari filed a case against the land official with local police station in connection with the incident.
