Stalkers allegedly beat two female college students up for protesting stalking in Mirpur area in the capital yesterday.
The injured were identified as Fariha Habib and Ashowad Habib , who were twin sisters and HSC first-year students of Mirpur BCIC College.
According the eyewitness, Jibon Karim Babu, owner of the hotel in front of the college premises, hurled abusive words at them when they were waiting for a bus around 11:10am. When they protested against the insult, Babu along with his two staff swooped on them with bamboo sticks leaving them critically injured.
Later, the victims were given treatment at Orthopedic Hospital. Getting the news, agitated teachers and students came to resist the stalkers but the miscreants again attacked on them. Anwar Hossain, officer-in-charge of Shah Ali Police Station, said, a case was filed in this connection and we are trying to arrest the stalkers.
