ACC files case against BRTA official
Anti Corruption Commission filed a case against an official of the Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA) of Manikganj on Monday evening.
Salam Ali Molllah, assistant director of the ACC, filed the case against Md Abdul Hannan, an assistant director of BRTA, with Sadar Police Station, said Aminur Rahman, officer in-charge of the police station.
The OC also added that the case was filed against Hannan over allegations of providing fake driving license and registration of vehicles.
Woman hit by falling bricks dies
A woman was killed as bricks of an under-construction building fell on her in Rajarhata area of Rajshahi city on Monday evening.
The deceased was identified as Alo Gosh, 25, wife of Prokash Gosh, a resident of the area.
Local councillor Abu Bakkar Siddik Kinu said 20-25 bricks from the 5-storey under-construction building owned by Abdul Khalek fell on the woman when she was passing by the building around 7pm, leaving her critically injured. She was rushed to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital where she succumbed to her injuries later.
25 drug peddlers held in capital
Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP), in separate anti-illegal drugs drives at different parts of the city arrested 25 people with yaba tablets, heroin, ganja and stimulating injections during the last 36 hours, said a press release yesterday.
A total of 6.01 lakh pieces of yaba tablets, 370 grams of heroin, 370 grams of cannabis (ganja) and 102 pieces of stimulating injections were seized from the peddlers, the release added.
