Zahidul Islam, Deputy Commissioner of Chapainawabganj, passed away at Rajshahi Medical College Hospital (RMCH) yesterday at the age of 48. Sources at Rajshahi divisional commissioner's office said Zahidul complained of chest pain around 9:45am. He was attending a meeting at the office at that time, reports UNB. Later he was rushed to the RMCH where doctors declared him dead, said Emdadul Haque, assistant sub-inspector of RMCH police outpost. Zahidul, hailing from Suktail village in Sadar upazila of Gopalganj district, is survived by his wife, two daughters and a son. He joined as deputy commissioner of Chapainawabganj on January 26 last.
