Investment needed for job creation to cut poverty: Muhith

Finance Minister AMA Muhith stressed on investment to create employment opportunity that help to reduce poverty. 

He made the statement while addressing a panel discussion on “End global poverty by 2030: Sharing Bangladesh’s experience” organised by World Bank at Osmani Smriti Auditorium in the capital yesterday.
Finance minister also said his government is now giving more emphasis on foreign trade.
 “We need to invest in health, education, and social safety net prog-rammes to create a path towards poverty reduction,” he also said. About agriculture sector he said it bring immediate result to create employment in rural areas.
World Bank President Jim Yong Kim, Speaker Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury, Planning Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal, chief economist and senior vice president of World Bank group, Paul Romer, country director, action Aid-Bangladesh Farah Kabir, and columnist and CEO of Mohammadia group, Rubana Huque also addressed the programme.
WB president Kim said Bangladesh has innovative idea in ending extreme poverty. 
Shirin Sharmin said the government has taken institutive to ensure gender equality and prepare gender budget in all ministries to empower the women.
