73rd Orientation Programme held at IUBAT
The Department of Economics of the College of Arts and Sciences (CAAS), International University of Business Agriculture and Technology (IUBAT University) organised 73rd Orientation Programme for the freshmen of Fall Semester 2016 on Sunday at the university auditorium, says press release. The orientation is being organised as a part of the Yearlong Countrywide Silver Jubilee Celebration of the IUBAT University.
Ms Afroza Gul Nahar, Managing Director, Bangladesh House Building Finance Corporation (BHBFC) graced the occasion as the chief guest. Ms Nahar stated that the country is making much progress and the students being future of the country will play a stronger role in accelerating this progress.
Prof Mahmuda Khanum, Vice-chancellor (Acting) of IUBAT University presided over the programme. Prof. Khanum underscored the need of massive manpower development to ensure quality assurance in higher education for facilitating the socio-economic growth and development. IUBAT University has been endeavouring to galvanize all efforts in order to produce a new generation graduates equipped with greater efficiency, expertise based on IT having distinct vision: to fulfil the needs of the society in line with global changes.
Prof Dr Abul Khair, Chair, Department of Chemistry, Dr Khan Mohammad Tariqul Islam, Prof Mohammad Shahjahan and Mr Chandan Kumar Sarker also spoke in the occasion. The programme was followed by a cultural event. The registrar, departmental heads, faculty members, officers and freshmen of the university participated in the event.
RU 10th convocation Dec 24
RAJSHAHI: The 10th convocation of the Rajshahi University (RU) will begin on December 24 this year. This date has been fixed from the Education Ministry primarily, RU vice chancellor Prof Muhammed Mizanuddin said.
The former students who completed their masters, MBBS, BDS, MPhil and PhD degrees from 2011 to 2014 (four years) at the university will get chance to register name for the convocation ceremony.
Registrar Prof Md Entajul Haque told the reporter that president Abdul Hamid and also the chancellor of the university gave his permission to organise the ceremony while RU VC meet with him recently.
However, chancellor will not be able to attend the convocation. Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid is expected to attend the convocation on behalf of the chancellor.
