DAB leader Dr Dolon arrested
Police last night arrested Dr Kazi Mazharul Islam Dolon, BNP central executive committee member and also leader of Doctor Association of Bangladesh (DAB), from a house of Dhanmondi area in the capital.
Officer-in-Charge of Kalabagan Police Station Yasir Arafat told BSS that police only carried out a court order issued earlier asking to arrest Dolon in an anti-terrorism case filed with Tejgaon police station in 2015.
He said he was arrested from the house no-39 of Dhanmondi 4/A area last night.

33 held with contraband drug
Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) in separate drives arrested 33 people for their alleged involvement in drug peddling and possessing different contraband items from different areas in the capital in last 18 hours, said a press release on Monday.
“55 pieces of yaba tablets, 31 grams heroin, 2.87 kgs canabiss (ganja), 45 piece of injection and 620 bottles of phensidyl were also recovered from them,” the release added.

SGH will train doctors, nurses for burn institute
Singapore General Hospital (SGH) will help train the doctors and nurses for the under-construction Sheikh Hasina National Burn Institute and Plastic Surgery Institute in the capital.
This was disclosed at a meeting of a delegation from Singapore General Hospital with Health and Family Welfare Minister Mohammad Nasim at the ministry, said a press release I the capital on Sunday.
The minister also gave a directive to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) soon with the concern authorities in this connection.

Discussion held in Rajshahi
A project phase-out advocacy meeting was held at conference hall of district administration in Rajshahi city on Sunday. Helvetas Swiss Intercooperation-Bangladesh under its 'SDC Local Governance Programme- Sharique' organised the meeting sharing its activities implemented in the UPs and Upazilas in the district during last 10 years.
More than 45 people comprising government officials, public representatives, NGO activists and other stakeholders joined the meeting.
Deputy Director of Local Government Division Dr Dewan Shahriar Firoj addressed the discussion as chief guest with Ataul Gani, Additional Deputy Commissioner (General), in the chair.
Upazila Parishad Chairman Abu Sayeed, Sharique Field Coordinator Amir Uddin, Regional Coordinator Aung Chow Hla and Project Officer Md Kamruzzaman also spoke.
