Sheikh Russell’s 52nd birthday today

Today is the 52nd birthday of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman’s youngest son Sheikh Russell, reports BSS.
On this day in 1964, Sheikh Russell, also the youngest brother of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, was born in the historic Bangabandhu Bhaban at Dhanmondi in Dhaka.
On the fateful night of August 15 in 1975, Sheikh Russell along with most of the family members of Bangabandhu was killed by some disgruntled army officers.  He was then a student of Class-IV at University Laboratory School.
Ruling Awami League (AL), its associate and likeminded bodies and socio-cultural organisations have chalked up elaborate programmes to mark the day. AL activists will lay wreaths at the graves of those massacred on August 15, 1975 including Sheikh Russell at Banani Graveyard at 8am and offer fateha (special prayers) at their graves.
