The 4-day ‘Sheikh Russel School Table Tennis Tournament’ organised by Sheikh Russel Krira Chakra will kicks start today at Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmed Indoor Stadium in the capital.
In association with Bangladesh Table Tennis Federation the tournament has been organised to mark the 52nd birth anniversary of Sheikh Russel, youngest son of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
Commerce Minister Tofail Ahmed will inaugurate the competition today at 4:00 pm.
Country’s one of the largest conglomerates Bashundhara Group will patronise the tournament and Bashundhara Cement will sponsor the competition. The theme of the tournament is ‘Sports for Every Child’.
This was stated by Sheikh Russel Krira Chakra Chairman and Managing Director of Bashundhara Group Sayem Sobhan Anvir at a press conference in the capital on Sunday.
Dr Sajjad Haider, Adviser (International Affairs to MD of Bashundhara Group), Nayeem Nizam, Editor of Bangladesh Pratidin and Director in-charge of Sheikh Russel Krira Chakra Ismat Jamil Akanda Lavlu were also present on the occasion. Over Tk 15 lakh will be spent for organizing the competition.
About 300 players drawn from 41 teams will participate in the competition.
