Young spinners across the world will always make headlines if they take wickets. When it is a leg spinner, the hype is magnified. In the ongoing tour of England in Bangladesh, leg-spinners kept a vital role.

England’s leg-spinner Adil Rashid was the highest wicket-taker in the recently concluded ODI series. Adil scalped 10 wickets in three-match road string with the best figure of 4-43 in the third and last one day at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chittagong.
Before going into the Test series, Tanvir Haider showcased his magic after Sabbir Rahman, in the second 2-dayer practice match at the MA Aziz Stadium yesterday, which ended in draw.
Although Sabbir played the first match, which also ended in draw, he was not in this second match.
Resuming the second and last day at 2-0, English side put on 90 runs on the board by their opening stand of Haseeb Hameed and Ben Duckett. Both batsmen completed their half century before being retired out.
Hameed, who has been included for the first time in England Test squad, scored in same pace with Duckett. Young batsman of Pakistani extraction made 57 off 125 that studded with nine boundaries. Duckett struck 101-ball 60, clobbering 10 boundaries.
It is Tanvir Haider, who brought the first breakthrough for BCB XI after the lunch, sent back captain Joe Root for 24. Therefore, he widened his wicket tally getting rid of Jonny Bairstow and Jos Buttler cheaply while the visiting side were on 139 for four.
Then Ben Stokes went for 25 being bowling by Subashis Roy. Gary Ballance tried to stretch the innings with the help of fellow batsmen. But Moeen Ali and Zafar Ansari walked back to the pavilion being bowled and trapped run out respectively.
Together with Chris Woakes, Balance then chipped together 43-run for the ninth wicket stand, which crossed the 250-run mark. Tanvir accounted for Woakes, who left the crease with 23.
Gareth Batty was the 10th batsman who trudged back to the pavilion being bowled by Taskin Ahmed, who made the headline to play the 2-dayer practice match ahead of the Test series.
It was since surfaced out that selectors tried by Taskin to test his temperament for the longer version. But later head coach Chandika Hathurusingha and chief selector Minhajul Abedin Nannu negated the possibility of Taskin’s debut in Test in this tour.
Taskin conceded 46 runs to take the lone wickets in 13.2 overs.
Tanvir Haider, who played 47 first-class and 43 List-A matches for Bangladesh, grabbed four wickets for 53 in 14 overs. Taskin Ahmed, Mosaddek Hossain Saikat and Subashis Roy snapped up one wicket apiece for the home side.
Earlier, BCB XI managed to muster 294 for all-out in 74.4 overs largely thanks to Abdul Majid’s outstanding century and Nazmul Hossain Shanto’s 72. Majid was the third batsman after Nafees Iqbal and Rakibul Hasan who struck century in the two-dayer practice match. His 106 was laced with 16 fours and one six in his 96-ball knock.
