Housing and Public Works Minister Engineer Mosharraf Hossain yesterday ordered the Rajdhani Unnayan Kartripakkha (Rajuk) to evict illegal structures from the banks of the Buriganga and Turag rivers, reports UNB. The minister came up with the directive at a meeting with the Rajuk officials at the ministry in this regard. Mosharraf said it is not necessary to issue any notice before the eviction as those structures were built on the riverbanks illegally. He also asked the Rajuk officials to submit a report before the ministry within a week on the number of illegal structures on the riverbanks. The minister also asked the officers concerned of Rajuk to prepare a list of the occupants who filled up water bodies adjacent to the rivers and take actions.
