Info leaders to meet grassroots peoples info demand
Khulna: Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Secretary Shyam Sunder Sikder said the government is developing the entrepreneurs of Union Digital Centers (UDCs) so that info leaders can meet the growing demand of news and information of the grassroots people.
The training to enhance the skills of 10,000 UDC entrepreneurs in writing reports and news features and conducting outsourcing and e-commerce is going on to develop them as info leaders, he said while inaugurating a workshop organised for UDC entrepreneurs of Sadar upazila on Saturday.
Trinomuler Tathyajanala programme of ICT Division and Tathyaseba Barta Sangstha (TSB) jointly arranged the workshop at the conference room of Deputy Commissioner of Khulna, said a press release.
Senior journalist Ajit Kumar Sarkar, Deputy Commissioner Nazmul Ahsan and TSB Executive Director Dr Aliur Rahman, among others, addressed the function presided over by Programme Director of Trinomuler Tathyajalana Dr Mohammad Mehedi Hasan.
The ICT Secretary said the government has ensured information services to the doorsteps of rural people by setting up 4,450 UDCs.
The training on writing reports and news features will build the capacity of the UDC entrepreneurs to disseminate information in a better and constructive way while the training on conducting outsourcing and e-commerce at the centers will help make the centers as mini business process outsourcing centers (BPOs), he said.
Ajit Kumar said the lifestyle of rural people has changed as the government has made available the use of internet through UDCs and smart phones.
The peasants, fishermen, businessmen and common people are getting necessary information online using the internet, he said.
Ajit Kumar said the training to develop info leaders at the grassroots level will help enhance the free flow of information and meet the growing demand.
