Accused held in Khagrachhari

Police yesterday arrested Ansar member Rafiqul Islam from Chongrachari Moner Manush area in Dighinala upazila for his alleged involvement in the killing of his superior Nayek Amir Hossain on Friday afternoon.
Khagrachhari Superintendent of Police Mozid Ali said “He was spotted by local people. They caught him and informed the matter to police.”
Police have taken him to Dighinala police station.
Ansar member Rafiqul Islam shot and killed Nayek Amir Hossain following an altercation over a trivial matter at 4.00pm on Friday at remote Headmanpara in Dighinala upazila.
Amir’s son Farid Mia filed a case with Dighinala police station accusing Rafiqul Islam of murdering his father.
After the incident, Rafiqul Islam, of Bolitila in Matiranga Upazila, had fled ran away with his arms and 84 rounds of ammunition.
Earlier yesterday, police recovered the arms and 80 rounds of ammunition, which were taken by Rafiqul Islam immediately after the killing his senior colleague, from a jungle, some one hundred yards away from Headmanpara Ansar camp. On the other hand, Khagrachhari Sadar Hospital completed post-mortem on Amir’s body which was later handed over to the family. He was buried after Zohr prayers yesterday afternoon.
