Four bodies recovered
Police recovered the bodies of four people including a woman from different area in Savar yesterday.
Police recovered the body of a rickshaw garage night guard from Hemaetpur-Joynabari area early this morning. The deceased was identified as Helal Uddin, 60.
In another incident, an unidentified man was beaten to death by some miscreants in Savar upazila health complex area. Police recovered the body and sent it to hospital morgue. Besides, police recovered the body of Shirin Akhter, 18, from Birulia village and sent it to hospital morgue. An unidentified youth was killed by miscreants at Vakurta-Sasmasi area last night. Being informed, police recovered the slaughtered body of the youth.
All bodies were sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy.
‘Drug peddler, 3 snatchers’ held
Detective Branch (DB) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) in an overnight drive arrested one alleged drug peddler and three snatchers from different areas in the capital, said a DB source yesterday noon.
“Illegal drugs, knives, sex-stimulating tablets and some mobile phone sets were seized from them,” he added.
Details will be informed later as they are being quizzed at DB office.
Football competition begins
The inaugural session of Inter Upazila Deputy Commissioner Gold Cup Football Competition 2016-17 on Charghat Pilot High School playground was held on Saturday afternoon.
Deputy Commissioner Kazi Ashraf Uddin chaired the event. Superintendent of police Moazzem Hossain Bhuiyan, president of District Football Association Dablu Sarker and general secretary of District Sports Association Rafius Sams Paddy also spoke on the occasion .
Discussion held
A post-rally discussion was held in the conference hall of Public Library in Rajshahi city in observance of the International White Cane Security Day- 2016 yesterday.
Department of Social Services (DSS) organised the discussion in association with National Disabled Development Foundation and National Blind Association.
Speakers at the meeting have said instead of neglecting the physically challenged people, they should be built as efficient workforce to make a prosperous Bangladesh.
Commissioner of Rajshahi Division Abdul Hannan addressed the discussion as chief guest with DSS Deputy Director Rubina Yeasmin in the chair. Deputy Commissioner of Rajshahi Metropolitan Police Tanveer Haider Chowdhury and Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Ataul Gani also spoke.
