Subir Chowdhury remembered at Bengal

Bengal Foundation organised a commemorative programme on Friday at Bengal Shilpalaya in the citys Dhanmondi area to pay tribute to the Director of Bengal Gallery of Fine Arts and Trustee of the Bengal Foundation artist Subir Chowdhury, who died on June 30, 2014.
Cultural Affairs Minister Asaduzzaman Noor attended the programme as chief guest, while veteran artist Rafiqun Nabi delivered speech at the event.
The programme was followed by a documentary titled Srijon Sokha Subir Chowdhury, where noted educationists Dr Anisuzzaman, Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid, artist Monirul Islam, Syed Jahangir, theatre personality Ramendu Majumder, Nasir Uddin Yusuf, litterateur Syed Monjurul Islam, Subir Chowdhrys wife Ruchita Sen Sharma, daughter Depannita Chowdhury, son Emon Chowdhury, and his brother Sukumar Chowdhury among others recalled the memories of Subir Chowdhury.
In the documentary, Qayyum Chowdhury also recalled I could do so much work because Subir Chowdhury encouraged me several times for drawing. He has taken me to several places.
Director General of Bengal Foundation Luva Nahid Chowdhury announced the Practice Grant for the year 2015-16. She informed that young Bangladeshi artists who are under age of 35 years can apply for the Practice Grant. The artworks of the grant artists will be displayed on Februray 26. In the cultural session, eminent singer Farida Parvin also performed Lalon Sangeet Pakhi Kokhon Jani Ure Jay, Paar Koro Heh Doyal and Kobe Hobe Sajal Barosha. l
