Majid hits century for BCB XI

Abdul Majid smashed a century as BCB XI accumulated 294 against England XI on the opening day of the 2-dayer practice match at the MA Aziz Stadium in Chittagong yesterday.

Majid, who scored the third highest of 706 runs after Rokibul Hasan (719) and Tamim Iqbal (714) in the last Dhaka Premier League (DPL), where he made two hundreds and five fifties with the best of 118, capitalised the chance to play against England properly.
He clouted 106 off 95 with fours and one six before being bowled by Stuart Broad. En route to 106, Majid left the ground being retired hurt while he was on 92 during the lunch. Later he completed his century coming back after the dismissal of Tanvir Haider. 
He shared a couple of successful partnership including 51-run with Soumya Sarkar for the opening stand and 79-run with Nazmul Hossain Shanto.
Youngster Shanto and Mosaddek Hossain Saikat looked more spirited more than their seniors. Shanto fell for 72. But Mosaddek Hossain fell three runs shy of his fifty.
Three batsmen, who have been named in the 14-member Test squad, played the practice match. Only Nurul Hasan Sohan, wicketkeeper-batsman, got some runs. Sohan chipped in with 39, while Soumya Sarkar (4) and Mominul Haque (1) trudging back to the pavilion.
Zafar Ansari claimed four wickets for England. Gareth Batty and Stuart Broad picked up two wickets apiece.
The visiting England XI replies with two no loss.
