GP seeks until Tuesday to fix problem

Mobile phone operator Grameenphone (GP) has sought time till July 7 (Tuesday) from its customers to fix the problem of billing extra amounts. The problem is mostly faced by postpaid service subscribers of GP, the country’s largest mobile service provider. The problem of billing extra amount was first reported on June 20. The trouble still continues till now.
However, officials of GP claimed that the problem in connecting calls has been fixed in 80 to 90 per cent cases. They also said that any additional amount billed to customers will be adjusted with specific bill cycles.
As the problem of extra billing persists, GP has decided to send bills to subscribers for the current bill cycle on July 7.  In an SMS sent to its postpaid subscribers, the GP said, “Dear Customer, due to system up gradation, you will receive your current monthly bill on 7h July (only for this month). Sorry for the inconvenience.”
The Independent published a report over GP’s ghost bills on June 28. The operator, at that time, claimed that the problem was caused due to a recent software upgrade.
GP has an estimated 5 million post-paid subscribers.
