Rakib emerges unbeaten champ in Walton Chess

GM Abdullah Al-Rakib of Bangladesh Navy became unbeaten champion in the Walton International Rating Chess Tournament which concluded yesterday at the Bangladesh Chess Federation hall room.
 Rakib earned 8.5 points to clinch the title. Rakib drew with Mahfuzur Rahman Emon in the last and ninth round game.
FM Mehdi Hasan Parag of Leonine Chess Club became runner-up with 8 points. Three players earned 7 points each and their position were determined after adopting a tie-breaker.
F M Iqbal Bin Anwar (Dawn), first senior additional director of Walton Group, distributed prizes among the winners as chief guest. K M Shahidullah, vice president of Bangladesh Chess Federation, presided the closing ceremony.
