SA look serious about Mustafiz

Sports Reporter

All eyes will be locked on new pace sensation Mustafizur Rahman to see if he continues his successful start in the international cricket.
The South Africa had already hinted that they worked on Mustafizur’s cutter which proved to be decisive in demolishing the mighty Indian batting line up. Mustafizur’s slower delivery was also effective against India but how those deliveries would work against South Africa, is now the matter of all discussion.
It would be Mustafizur’s second Twenty20 International after his superb debut against Pakistan. He claimed two for 20 to steer the side to a seven-wicket win over Pakistan who was believed to win the T20 match despite being whitewashed in the ODI series earlier.
His T20 performance paved the way for him in the ODI squad against India. He was nowhere in the scene to make a debut despite being in the squad but Bangladesh sprung a surprise by fielding a four-pronged pace attack. The more surprising factor was to give the new ball to the debutant Mustafizur against openers like Shikhar Dhawan and Rohit Sharma. The trick of Chandika Hathurusingha and Mashrafe Bin Mortaza worked nicely as Mustafizur’s disciplined bowling attack kept the openers at bay but as the time of the match progressed he unleashed a barrage of cutters to which the Indian batsmen found them wanting.
Before coming to Bangladesh, South Africa gathered information about him and looked serious.
“I have had a look at him while watching the game against India,” South Africa T20 captain Faf Du Plessis said after arriving in Bangladesh. “We haven’t had a closer look with him though and we haven’t sat down on him. But I did see that he did really well. We can learn from the way India didn’t play too well against him. We can make changes.”
