Indian men’s and women’s team clinched the title of the IHF Trophy Handball, outplaying Bangladesh in both finals yesterday at the Captain Mansur Ali Handball Stadium.
India, who were favoruites in the both men’s and women’s division, defeated the men’s team by 46-25 goals.
The women’s team demolished the host Bangladesh by 48-29 points.
Bangladesh men’s team, though trying to fight evenly at the initial hour with fighting with 7-7 up 10 minutes but failed to carry on the space and speed, as the India side went 20-10 goals ahead before the break and ultimately finished the match on 48-29. But if Bangladesh could converted some seven meters throws (penalty) the difference of defeat would be reduced.
Monika was the highest scorer for India with eight goals.
Finance Minister AMA Abdul Muhith distributed prizes among the participants as the chief guest.
