UP member shot dead

A union parishad member was shot dead by criminals at Godkhali Mathpara in Jhikargachha upazila yesterday. The deceased was identified as Rahat Jhan, 42, a member of Ghadkhali union parishad and an inhabitant of Ghadkhali Mathpara village in the upazila. Officer-in-charge of Jhikargachha Police Station Abu Seleah Masud Karim quoting victim’s brother Mizanur Rahman said six armed assailants on two motorcycles shot Rahat at a salon in the area around 9.15 and left the spot. Later, local people sent him to Jessore Medical College Hospital where doctors declared him dead.
