7-member probe body formed

A seven-member probe body has been formed on Tuesday night to investigate the suicide incident of Akhter Jahan Jolly, an associate professor of Rajshahi Universities (RU) Mass Communication and Journalism (MCJ) Department.

Rajshahi Universities (RU) Zoology department professor Selina Parvin has been made the secretary of the committee.
The decision was  taken at the 468th syndicate meeting where RU Vice-Chancellor Prof Mizanuddin was in the chair. This probe body will work under university’s Sexual Harassment and Torture Protection Act-2010. 
On September 23, academic committee of MCJ department had withdrawn Prof Tanvir Ahmed and his wife Soma Deb, also teacher of this department, for 5 years from all the academic activities.
It is noted that Associate Professor Aktar Jahan Jolly was found dead at room No-303 of teachers’ residential block, Jubery Bhaban, on the campus on September 9. A suicidal note was also found in her room. The following day, on September 11, Kamrul Hasan Ratan, a younger brother of Joly, filed a case with Motihar Police Station against anonymous person in this connection.
