Bangladesh storm into semis

Sports Reporter

Bangladesh women’s handball team sealed their semifinal spot when they brushed aside their Afghan counterparts by 34-7 goals in the lopsided affair of the Islami Bank IHF Trophy International Handball tournament at the Shaheed Captain M Mansur Ali National Handball Stadium yesterday.

The hosts, who started their campaign with an emphatic win of 47-14 goals that they earned against Sri Lanka, took the lead first in the day’s match and finished the first half with 16-2. After the breather, they added 18 more goals on the board. Captain Rubina Begum topscored for Bangladesh with nine.
