UNB

Police on Sunday night released the photos of seven alleged militants who were killed during Saturday’s raid by at a den in Patartek area of Gazipur district, reports UNB. The photos surfaced on Dhaka Metropolitan Police’s (DMP’s) news portal ‘DMP News’.
A report at the news portal said the militants had used different names at different times and places. “It is necessary to know their actual identity for the sake of investigation,” it said. The DMP requested all to inform either through sending message to the inbox of the DMP’s facebook page, using Hello City CT apps, or directly informing Gazipur district police, if anyone of the militants can be recognised.
Earlier on Saturday, a team of Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) unit, Special Weapon and Tactics Team(SWAT) and district police launched an operation at a den in a two-storey building in  Patartek area in Gazipur around 12:00 am. "The law enforcers first asked the militants to surrender
but they didn’t respond to their call. Then they opened fire on the militants who also fired back. The three-hour gunfight left seven militants dead,” said Home Minister Assaduzzaman Khan at a press briefing after the operation.
The seven ‘militants’ included Neo JMB military commander Akash and four madrassha students, he said.
The minister said the anti-militant operations have been successful as common people came forward to assist the law enforcers.  Earlier, two alleged militants — Tawhidul Islam, 22, and Rashedul Islam, 22 —were killed in a reported gunfight during a raid on a ‘militant den’ by members of Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) in Harinal area of the city in the morning.
In Tangail, two alleged militants were killed in a joint operation by police and Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) in Kagmara area of the district town in the morning. Meanwhile, alleged financer of banned militant outfit Jama’atul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB), Abdur Rahman, who suffered injuries in a raid by Members of Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) in Savar upazila on the outskirts of the capital, died at Enam Medical College Hospital in Savar on Saturday night.
