DU Surya Sen Hall to celebrate golden jubilee Jan 28
The golden jubilee celebration of Masterda Surya Sen Hall of Dhaka University (DU) will be held on January 28, 2017.
The decision was taken at a meeting of the Surja Sen Hall Golden Jubilee Celebration Committee at the conference room of the Industry Ministry with its convenor and provost of the hall Professor Dr Maksud Kamal in the chair.
The meeting decided to unveil the bust of Masterda Surja Sen on the hall premises, make a documentary about the history of the dormitory and life and works of Surja Sen and publish a souvenir in this respect. The meeting also formed different sub-committees to celebrate the golden jubilee function smoothly. Delivering welcome speech at the function, general secretary of the celebration committee and former vice president of the hall Sirajum Munir read out the proceedings of the earlier meeting. President of Teachers Samity Fariduddin Ahmed, Industrialist Noor Ali and other convenors of the Sub-committees AMM Mohiuzzaman Chowdhury Moyna, Bozlul Haq Rana and Zohurul Islam Tuku were present, among others.
Registration for the participants has already been started through the hall's official website www.surjasenhalldu.com which was launched earlier.

Syed Shamsul Haque remembered 
Notre Dame University Bangladesh (NDUB) organised a discussion to commemorate late versatile writer Syed Shamsul Haque on Friday, says a press release.
Father Subas Adam Pereira, CSC, Registrar and Chairman of the Department of English Language and Literature, was the chief guest in this programme.   
Teachers and students participated in this event where the life and his works of Syed Shamsul Haque were discussed in brief. Two of his poetic-dramas – Payer Awaj Pawa Jay (Footsteps, heard), and Nuruldiner Sharajibon (Entire Life of Nuruldin) – were discussed concisely in the programme by the university faculties Jamilur Rahman Khan and Ahmed Tahsin Shams respectively. A short documentary on Syed Shamsul Haque was screened.   Md Abdul Goffur was the secretary, and Md Mustakimur Rahman was the convenor of the programme. Syed Shamsul Haq died on September 27, 2016. 

ULAB celebrates 12th foundation day 
University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh (ULAB) celebrated its 12th foundation day with great enthusiasm on ULAB campus at Mohammadpur, Dhaka on Thursday, says a press release. 
Dr Dipu Moni, MP, chairman, Parliamentary Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs, was chief guest.  ULAB Vice Chancellor (Acting) Imran Rahman delivered the welcome speech. Member of ULAB’s Board of Trustees Kazi Nabil Ahmed, MP also delivered a speech on the vision of ULAB. As part of the programme, Dr Dipu Moni and the ULAB authorities cut a cake to celebrate ULAB's 12th year of founding.  The formal part of the programme concluded with a vote of thanks by ULAB Registrar Professor Akhter Ahmed. 
To celebrate its Foundation Day, ULAB organized a fair (mela) supported by the ULAB Co-curricular Office.
