Customs Intelligence yesterday arrested a man with gold worth about Tk 75 lakh from Hazrat Shahjalal (R) International Airport (HSIA) in the capital, police and customs officials said, reports BSS.
HM Ahsanul Kabir, assistant commissioner (AC) of the Directorate General of Intelligence & Investigation, told BSS that the members of their preventive team of customs arrested Mohammad Faruk Hossain from Green Channel area of the airport at 11 am.
"The customs officials interrogated Faruk for his suspicious movement and later searched his body and luggage where 14 gold bars and 13 gold rings, weighing about 1.46kg, were found," he added.
The detainee arrived at the airport from Thailand by a flight of Thai Airways (TG-321) yesterday morning. A case was filed in this connection.
