Padatik Natya Sangsad Bangladesh, one of the prominent theatre troupes in the country, will stage their much-acclaimed production ‘Poramati’ today at 7pm at the Mahila Samity Mancha in the capital’s Baily Road, as a part of 18-day National Theatre Festival. ‘Poramati –a piece on the Liberation War, is the 31st production of the troupe, scripted by Babul Biswas and directed by Dr Irin Parvin Lopa.
The play depicts the torture and genocide that was inflicted on the intellectuals of the country just two days prior the independence of Bangladesh.
The probable cast of the play includes Amiya Mizan, Kamruzzaman Pavel, Al Amin, Mahmuda Akter Lita, Faruk Faisal Duke and Kamal Hossain.
Selim SH Chowdhury, team leader of Padatik Natya Sangsad Bangladesh said about the play, “The play upholds the spirit of the Liberation War and also honours the sacrifice of our Martyred Intellectuals who laid their lives for the country.” On the other hand, the two other plays will be staged simultaneously at the Hall of BSA at 7pm today. Among these, Aranyak Natyadal will stage its 54th production ‘Bhangabanga’, written by thespian Mamunur Rashid and directed by Faiz Zahir at the National Theatre Hall and Sanglap Group Theatre will stage their play ‘Bodh’ at the Experimental Theatre Hall.
