Stern actions against troublemakers at puja mandaps: Ranga

RANGPUR: State Minister for Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Mashiur Rahman Ranga has said stern actions will be taken against the troublemakers in the puja mandaps, reports BSS. The government has taken adequate steps to ensure celebrations of the Durga Puja festivity by the Hindu community in peaceful environment, Ranga said in a ceremony held at Gangachara upazila parisahd auditorium on Saturday afternoon as chief guest.
Gangachara upazila administration organised the ceremony for distribution of government assistance among the 119 puja mandap authorities of the upazila to
assist the Hindu community people celebrating the universal Durga Puja.
The State Minsiter distributed 500 kilogram general relief rice among each of the 119 puja mandap authorities as government assistance and Taka 5,000 among each mandap from his own funds.
With Gangachara Upazila Nirbahi Officer Aminul Islam in the chair, President of Gangachara Puja Udjapan Committee Pratap Chandra and Officer-in-Charge of Gangachara Model Police Station Zinnat Ali addressed the ceremony, among others.
Assuring the Hindu community people of maintaining peaceful atmosphere in all puja mandaps, Ranga called upon them for celebrating their greatest religious festivity of Durga Puja without any fear in their minds.
Religion belongs to the particular community, but festival is for all, he said and directed the law enforcement
agencies to prevent gambling and other anti-social activities, if any, for ensuring congenial environment
around all puja mandaps.
