NETRAKONA: Two intercity train services on Netrakona-Mohanganj rail route have brought fortune, delights and happiness for the people of remote and downstream areas of Netrakona, Sunamganj and other neighboring districts, reports BSS. The intercity trains namely “Haor Express and Mohanganj Express” have created wider opportunities for the Haor areas people for making their journey to the capital Dhaka and other parts of the country easily and timely.
At the present time, most of the people of the areas like to make their journey by the trains instead of bus to avert traffic jams and risks of road accident, the local people said.
Local railway department officials said the railway ministry launched the first intercity train Haor Express on June 7, 2013 and the Mohanganj Express train launched on September 8, 2016 for fulfilling the long-cherished demands of the local people to solve the communication problems of the Haor areas people as well as to easily connect the areas with other places of the country.
Talking to the correspondent, local leaders of different socio-cultural and political organizations and public representatives and people of all walks of life said the long-cherished dreams of the downstream areas people have been materialized by the present government by launching the two intercity train services in the Dhaka-Mohanganj route.
They said that the unprivileged people of the Haor areas are being highly benefited now with rendering of the two intercity trains services on the route.
Deputy Commissioner of Netrakona Dr Musfiqur Rahman said the demand of the local people have been fulfilled by launching the rail communication.
The people of the area expressed their gratitude to the government for launching the two trains for mitigating the communication-related sufferings of the Haor areas people.
