Bangladesh women’s handball team made their IHF Trophy International Handball tournament with a happy note just after crushing Sri Lanka by 46-14 goals in their opening match of Group A match at Mansur Ali Handball Stadium in the capital yesterday.
Though the men’s team of Bangladesh failed to make it winning start but the women’s team entertained the crowds with a big win against Sri Lanka. In the almost one way traffic, Bangladesh led the first half by 22-07 goals.
Shifa scored highest nine goals while Parul followed her with seven and Purnima was another notable scorer with five goals.
Earlier of the match Obaidul Quader, Minister for Road Transport and Bridge opened the
tournament as chief guest, Engineer Mustafa Anwar, chairman of the Islami B
ank was present as special guest while principal Hamida Ali former vice-president of the BHF, Nurul Fazal Bulbul president of the Bangladesh Handball Federation (BHF) and Asaduzzaman Kohinoor general secretary of BHF were present in the opening ceremony.
