EU holds reception for successful HSC students
A reception programme for successful students of HSC 2016 organised by the Public Relations Office and Admission Office of Eastern University (EU) was held on the EU premise in the capital on Saturday, says a press release.
Nearly 1,000 students from all over the Bangladesh participated in the ceremony. Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid was the chief guest in the programme. Md Azizul Islam, chairman, Board of Trustees, EU was the guest of honor. 
The programme was chaired by the Vice-Chancellor of Eastern University Abdur Rab while Helal Uddin, additional secretary, Ministry of Education;  Md Habibur Rahman, managing director, Al-Arafah Islami Bank Limited, were the  special guests. Abdul Hannan Chowdhury, pro-vice chancellor of EU, delivered the welcome speech. 
All guests of the seminar thanked Eastern University for this initiative. The Program was ended with vote thanks from the Registrar of EU Abul Basher Khan.

European University of Bangladesh gets new VC 
Prof Mokbul Ahmed Khan has joined European University of Bangladesh as the vice-chancellor on Thursday, says a press release.
He obtained his BA (Hons) and MA degree in Economics from Dhaka University and PhD degree from Moscow Textile University in 1976.  
In his long teaching career, Prof Khan served as professor of Business Administration in five universities including Bradford University of UK and Otago University, New Zealand. He also served as the Textile Adviser of the World Bank for Government of Bangladesh for more than 16 years.  Dr Khan actively took part in the liberation war of 1971, as a member of the Mujib Bahini in Gopalgonj district.  Prof Khan has authored 10 books and 200 research and consultancy articles published in national and international journals.

Nat'l conference of teachers ends
A two-day 5th national conference of teachers was concluded on Saturday following certificate distribution among the participants at the auditorium of Ahsanullah University of Science and Technology (AUST) in the capital.
Bangladesh Literacy Association (BLA) organised the event while State Minister for Post, Telecommunication and Information Technology Ministry Zunaid Ahmed Palak inaugurated the function as the chief guest on October 7 (Friday), said a release.
The conference emphasised on morality in education, usage of ICT (Information Communication and Technology) and technical and vocational education.
The President of Dhaka Ahsania Mission (DAM) also BLA Chairman Kazi Rafiqul Alam addressed the concluding ceremony. BLA has been organising the conference every year since 2012 to ensure the professional standards of the teachers, the release said.
