Separate Dhaka courts sent BNP joint secretary general Habib-un-Nabi Khan Sohel to jail rejecting his bail petitions in 41 cases yesterday, reports UNB.
Earlier on the day, the BNP leader surrendered before the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate’s court and sought bail in 41 cases, including 22 filed with Paltan Police Station, three with Motijheel, Jatrabari and Mugda each, two with Darus Salam, Wari and Khilgaon each and one with Ramna, Shahbagh and Mohammadpur each.
Later, separate Metropolitan Magistrates’ courts passed the order rejecting his bail petitions in the cases filed for subversive activities.
Advocate Sanaullah Maih stood for the BNP leader while assistant commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Meras Uddin argued for the state.
