Gas pipeline under river leaks

A leak was detected on an underwater gas pipeline of Titas Gas adjacent to Tangail-Bangabandhu Bridge highway in Kalihati upazila yesterday morning.
Kafil Uddin, station manager of Tangail Fire Station, said local people spotted an irregular water surge, triggered by the gas leakage, on the water surface of the Pouli River near the bridge around 9am.
Informed, police as well as one unit of firefighters rushed to the spot and suspended movements of water vessels.
UNO of Kalihati Abu Nasar Uddin said Titas Gas authorities completed repair of the leakage pipeline in the afternoon.

1.4 lakh yaba recovered 
Cox’s Bazar: Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) recovered 1,40,000 pieces of yaba tablets from Lengur Beel area in Teknaf upazila on Tuesday night, reports UNB.
Lt Colonel Abu Jar Al Zahid, commanding officer of BGB Battalion-2, said a patrol team of the border force challenged a group of smugglers while they were suspiciously roaming in Lengur Beel area around 10.30pm.
The suspected people managed to escape the scene leaving behind a bag.

Fake marriage register jailed

A fake marriage register was jailed for attempting to register a child marriage in Bakshiganj upazila on Tuesday night.
The fake marriage register was identified as Nobi Hossain, 45, hailed from Goalkandi village of the upazila.
Officer-in-Charge of Bakshiganj Police Station Aslam Hossain said Nobi Hossain was registering a marriage of a under aged girl at Malirchar Hajipara village in the upazila on Tuesday night.
Acting on a tip-off police rushed to the spot and arrested the fake marriage register. Police also seized his registering volume. Upazila Nirbahi Officer Abu Hassan Siddik awarded him one month jail.

Drug peddler held with drugs 
FARIDPUR: Police in a raid arrested a female drug peddler and recovered different types of drugs from South Jhiltuly area of the town on Tuesday night, reports BSS.
The arrested woman was identified as Parvin.
DB police said based on secret information a team of police raided the area on Tuesday night and arrested the woman with drugs.
