Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner Asaduzzaman Miah yesterday said uninterrupted and tight security measures have been taken so that the country’s Hindu community can celebration of Durga Puja in a festive environment, UNB reports.
Talking to reporters after inspecting the security arrangements at Dhakeshwari temple in the city, the DMP chief also noted that there is no information of a militant attack ahead of Durga Puja, the largest religious festival of the Hindu community.
Of the 226 Puja mandaps in the city, 88 were identified as very important (risky) while 83 as important, 48 as less important, he said.
CCTV surveillance systems will be installed in every Puja mandap as a part of the security measures, he added.
Assaduzzaman noted that devotees will have to enter the Puja mandaps though archway and their bodies will be searched before entering.
